Langtang Valley Trek

Overview Location

Located in the Langtang National Park, to the north of Kathmandu, the Langtang Valley Trek is a stunning and fairly off-the-beaten-path trekking experience. Langtang, or more affectionately known as the “Valley of Glaciers,” has the ideal mix of beautiful forests, rural Tamang villages, alpine meadows, and giant Himalayan mountains. The trek generally reaches its highest point at Tserko Ri, a tourist viewpoint with great scenery of nearby peaks, at 4,984 meters (16,352 feet). Walking time is 7–10 days in average and distance covered is 70–80 kilometers. Following a motorized car journey from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the trek continues in ascending elevation along the riverbank of the Langtang River on the banks of bamboo and rhododendron forest until the valley hub Kyanjin Gompa. Culturally prosperous and Tibetan Buddhist-dominated, Langtang gives a genuine experience of trekking. Walking is optimal with a good climate and mountain landscape view at their prime, which are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November).
