Overview Location
Nepal’s Annapurna Region Annapurna Base Camp is 4,130 meters (13,550 feet) above sea level. Depending on the itinerary and starting site, the duration is usually 7 to 12 days. Moderate difficulty (anyone with a reasonable level of fitness can do it) Depending on the route, the trekking distance can range from 70 to 110 km. Seasons That Are Best are clear skies and flowering rhododendron blossoms are hallmarks of spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November) which has best mountain vistas and stable weather. Starting point of trekking is Pokhara, followed by a drive to Ghandruk, Jhinu Danda, or Nayapul.

Note: Depending on their level of fitness and acclimatization requirements, some people do it more quickly (5 days) or more slowly (12 days).
Trekking Permit Requirements
Two permits are required:
- Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card
- Price: around NPR 2,000 (USD 15–20)
- The Annapurna Conservation Area Project’s ACAP Permit
- Costs approximately NPR 3,000 (USD 22–25).
✅ It is easy to arrange these in Pokhara or Kathmandu.
Accommodation and Food
- Teahouses/Lodges: Comfortable but simple. Hot showers and WiFi usually available (for a fee).
- Food: Dal Bhat (Nepalese meal), fried rice, noodles, soups, pasta, tea and coffee.
- Food gets simpler and more expensive as you move up (due to the challenges of transportation).
Important Tips
- Fitness: It is good to have a basic level of cardiovascular fitness, but get ready by walking, running, or trekking first.
- Altitude Sickness:
➔ Go slowly. Drink plenty of water.
➔ Headache, nausea, and lightheadedness are symptoms.
➔ Diamox is one medication that can help prevent AMS. - Packing List Must-Haves:
- Comfortable hiking boots
- Layered warm clothing
- Trekking stick/poles
- Water purification tablets or bottle
- Sleeping bag(optional)
- Rain gear(optional)
- Travel Insurance: Make sure that it covers walking up to 4,500 meters and helicopter evacuation.
Alternative Routes
- ABC + Poon Hill Trek: For breathtaking sunrise views at Poon Hill (Ghorepani), add two to three days.
- Short ABC Trek: The walk can be shortened by one or two days by starting from Jhinu Danda and traveling farther.
- Mardi Himal Trek + ABC: A combination for treks who like to increase the level of adventure.

- Close view of the mountains than the majority of previous excursions.
- You may travel from tropical woods to snowfields within a days.
- Pokhara is easy to reach and it doesn’t require flights like Everest Base Camp so it affordable and accessible.
- Fewer people than at EBC, particularly during off-peak times
