Overview Location
The trek is well-known as Helambu Trek and is a short easy hiking culture trek in the northern part of Kathmandu within Langtang area. This trek is an ideal intro trek to Nepal: hardly any uphill walking, and long days. The trek passes beautiful fields and through pine and rhododendron forests, past villages in the region known as Hyolmo whose culture and traditions differ very much from that of the neighboring Sherpas. The trek is beautiful, with spectacular views of Langtang Lirung (7234m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), and many other snow-peaked nearby hills resting in the backdrop, making it ideal for those trekkers who want a good landscape, monastery visits, and a good return in cultural experiences within a timeframe of 1 week. Also, being of relatively lower altitudes (max. to about 3650m at Tharepati) makes it suitable for families, first-timers, or even short-time visitors because the risk of altitude sickness here is very low.
