Gosaikunda Trek

Overview Location

The Gosaikunda Trek is a highly active but also spiritually rewarding trek of Nepal’s Langtang district. Its holy alpine lakes, mainly the holy Gosaikunda Lake (4, 380m altitude) form a classic combination of nature, culture and reasonable physical endurance. The trek follows pine and rhododendron woods, alpine meadow and typical Tamang villages, to arrive at a series of glacial lakes beneath dominating snow-white peaks. Gosaikunda is also a sacred place for Hindus and Buddhists and attracts thousands of visitors every year during the Janai Purnima festival. At other times, however, despite being of a spiritual nature, the trail is quite off the beaten track, and a relaxing and scenic trekking holiday from Kathmandu.
